2010 April 17. YW chili & cornbread cookoff.

On Saturday we YW had their annual ward chili & cornbread cook off. Chuck entered some cornbread, and he won "sweetest cornbread". I think that Brother Chapman won best Chili, again! And Sister Pyper won an award for her cornbread too...can't remember what the award was, but Chuck said her cornbread was the best!
They auctioned off all kinds of items and desserts that were donated by member and then bought by other members. This is a great way for the girls to earn money for girls camp!

This year the hot item was a 'Texas' shaped stepping stone that Sister Jensen made. It so happened that both myself and Marie Greenwood both wanted this fantastic item, so in the fun of thing, we ended up having a bidding war! It was getting pretty high, so at the last minute I went and asked Sister J if she would make me one too at a later date, she said yes! So I donated $82 to the girls, for our 'Texas' stone, and Marie got hers for the same price! Luck for me, Cindy made a newer version with a bluebonnet....sweet!
Daelyn was the auctioneer this year, and during the bidding, made a comment to the Bishop that he should bid on an item, he was already fat. She didn't mean any malice, but I think she surprised herself (and her parents) when she said it. It didn't phase Chuck much, because he did bid on a few desserts, and ended up sharing a couple of them with all the boys in the gym. It was a fun evening for everyone who attended, and Austin's favorite part of the evening was played tag outside with all the older boys.
