2010 Sept 1. Lindsie goes to see Ashlie.

Sister Ashlie Martin’s Mission president allowed Lindsie to go up to Ogden and pick Ashlie up so they can spend the day together. It has been 2 and 1/2 years since they have seen each other!

Here are a couple of mission companions of Ashlie's, Meldrum & Graves. The Twinkies are about some fast Sunday joke between the sisters.

This is a cool picture of Ash through the window!

Lindsie took some pictures of Ashlie around the mission office and temple grounds.

The mission office is right next to the Ogden temple.

Sister missionaries! I'm so glad they got to spend some time together, I wish I could of been a fly on the wall for that reunion! I didn't get many details of there day together, except that they went to a few investigator homes, and that they went to Great Harvest for lunch! After they spend the day together, Lindsie returned Sister Martin to the Mission Home and drove back to Provo. Ashlie spent the night at the mission home and the next day flew home to Houston.

2010 August 30. Nursing school starts.

Nursing School started today! Thank goodness it was an orientation kind of day. I also had to take a math test, good thing it was only a practice test...I forgot how to work a lot of the problems! I'm really excited for the semester, but I'm not looking forward to all the homework...I have 5 chapters to read tonight!

2010 August 28. Silver Pines pool party!

Everyone is back to school and the pool is only open for one more weekend!

To celebrate the end of summer we had our annual Ward Pool Party!

The ward provided the paper-goods and each family brought their own meat.

And grilled it up themselves.

Each family also brought a salad, dessert, or chips to share!

Others came to make one last big splash!

The pool was enjoyed by all ages.

Austin, Michael, Spencer, and Tyler had a great time in the pool!

The kid-pool was pretty fun too!

It was a great evening to just visit and enjoy each others company.

Brandon had a table set up for his Eagle Scout project, he was putting together comfort kits.

They Lyman's managed to stay nice and cool!

I think everyone who came enjoyed themselves, and it looks like Zachary's ready to go home!

2010 August 24. Happy Birthday!!

On Sunday, after church, Lindsie made me an awesome 4 layer devils food chocolate cake with chocolate chips and pudding in the mix...and she added peanut butter and cream cheese frosting between all 4 layers...and she frosted the whole cake with a cream cheese frosting...then she topped it off with crushed peanut butter cups!

Lindsie was a little upset that it wasn't perfectly straight and round, but it was amazingly rich...and soooo good! The best birthday cake ever!

Hurry and take the picture....there's a lot of heat coming off this cake!

After cake came the presents!!!

I opened my birthday present from Lindsie. ..an awesome BYU polo. I got a sweet letter from Ashlie, and Cory sent me a birthday email! My Mom and brother also called me to wish me a happy birthday, it was great!

Just an hour after I dropped off Lindsie at the airport Monday, I walked over to another gate and picked up Scott. He flew down on Friday to help Mel move to Dallas. So on his way back to Seattle, he stopped here for a day and stayed with us. We were able to visit for a bit, then he took us out to Del Pueblo for a birthday dinner! Chuck took him back to the airport early Tuesday morning.

Birthday morning,Chuck and Austin put up some birthday streamers for me! Then they gave me a card and chocolate before breakfast. That afternoon I went to lunch with some friends that I will be going to nursing school with. And next week Kelly and I are going to get our nails done, her birthday was on the 21st. It really was a great birthday week!

Oh yeah, I also got my hair cut!

2010 August 23. Back to school for Lindsie & Austin.

Today Lindsie is heading back to Provo to move into her new apartment and get ready for another semester at the Y. This semester she has her own room and she is very excited about that! On Thursday she is helping out with new student orientation, and she really likes doing that.

Austin's first day of school, 2nd grade! He was so excited and nervous about going to school that he didn't get to sleep until after 10pm (he had to get his music box, from the drawer next to his bed) to get himself to go to sleep!

I had to leave early to get Lindsie to the airport, so we took 'first day of school' pictures before we left. Here is Austin and William waiting at the bus stop. Chuck's job was to put Austin on the bus, but Austin was so nervous ...he had to go to the bathroom right before the bus came...but he managed to catch the bus!

Rosie had to go back to school to, so I gave Rosie a big hug and some bum scratches before we put her in her travel case. Linds said they will both be back at Christmas to visit! Can't wait.

2010 August 21. A Day at the Museum.

Today was the last day to have some fun with Linds before she went to school, so we decided to go to the Museum of Natural Science and check out the exhibits.

Austin really enjoyed all the dinosaur bones and fossils.

Chuck's favorite exhibit was the Foucault Pendulum, a visual demonstration of the Earth’s rotation. As you watch, the direction of the pendulum’s swing appears to change, when actually the earth is turning under the pendulum as it swings. The pendulum doesn't turn the earth does. It was pretty cool!

My favorite was the Cockrell Butterfly Center. There were butterfly everywhere in this 2 level habitat.

Here are just a couple of the bright colored butterflies.

They had a fun screen on the wall with a bunch of butterfly shadows dancing across it. Chuck had fun showing Austin how to make butterfly and other puppets with their hands!

Lindsie enjoyed all of the exhibits! It was a great family day!

2010 August 20. Clark's wedding.

Lindsie stayed home with Austin one last weekend before she heads back to school on Monday. Chuck and I headed back up to SLC for Clark Anderson's wedding to Shilah, in the Logan Temple.

I had never been to Logan and have only seen a photo of the Logan Temple, it was beautiful sitting up on a hill like a castle!

We arrived a little early, so Chuck drove us around Logan and he showed me the college Rachel is attending and we drove around the campus.

I took a picture of Chuck and I on the temple grounds as we were waiting for the bride and groom to come out after the ceremony.

While we were waiting, Chuck was teasing Brian about when he was going to get married!. Sister Anderson told Brian that he had to wait a year or two because her bank account was at zero!

Clark's wedding was really nice, and he and Shilah were so happy together. I know that Julie was very excited to have another son married in the temple. I got a quick picture of Scott with his wife and Lauren with her husband.

We barely got to stay and wait for Clark and Shilah to come out of temple in their tux and wedding dress, but I got a few pictures and we had to leave to go back to the airport to catch a flight to PHX to get home. It was nice to see Julie and her family again, next time it will be for Brian's wedding!
