Philips Wedding. July 10-12, 2009

Chuck and I were so excited to be able to attend Philips wedding, in the Columbia River Washington Temple. The closest airport was Portland, Oregon and then we drove 3 hours on Hwy 84, to Richland Washington. It was a beautiful ride for about an hour, that's when it started to get dark, and I mean really dark! The freeway followed the Columbia River for quite a while, and we saw a few dams on the river, the Columbia forms part of the Washington-Oregon border. We arrived a little late, but me made it! On Saturday morning we meet the Roberts at their hotel for breakfast so that we could see Philip for a few minutes before it got to crazy. Philip looked so handsome, but he sure was nervous! He ran off for pictures, and we go to visit with Anita and Frank for a bit. After breakfast, Chuck, Austin, I went for a stroll in the park next to the hotel. It was a beautiful summer day, and the park is right on the river.

Austin went right to the beach below to throw rocks into the river.

The Roberts family, (all but 1!) and the rest of the wedding party got together in the stake center just before the wedding for pictures. It was wonderful to have the stake center right next door to the Temple. The YW in the stake offered to watch all the Roberts grandchildren, during the sealing, and Anita was very sweet and invited Austin to stay with them and play. I didn't think I would be able to attend the sealing, so that was a wonderful surprise. Here is a picture of Tyler, Chuck, and Brent in the stake center, before the ceremony

It was about 90 degrees outside at 6pm, and they had their reception by a rose garden in one of the parks. It had a big gazebo, where the family had their reception line, it was really nice, but very hot!

We stayed at the reception for about 30 minutes and were able to congratulate Philip and Jenepher.

Here is another picture of Tyler and Brent, I know that these guys were on the verge of sweating!

Austin had a great time walking around the garden with he Robert's grand kids. We then had to head back to the airport in Portland so that Chuck could catch a red eye to Houston. The drive back to Portland was beautiful. We still had a few hours of daylight, and were able to see a lot more on the ride back to the airport. Chuck was able to catch his plane home, and Austin and I stayed in a hotel so that we could catch a morning flight to Seattle, and on to Bellingham to see Grandma Rose and Grandpa Scott for a few days.
