Cory is off to College. June 18 - 21, 2009

High Adventure activity,on Utah Lake, with the Young Men.

Austin and I had to go up to Provo, so that we could get all of Cory's 'college stuff' to him, there at BYU. Cory flew right from the Houston airport on Monday here to Salt Lake, to meet up with the Young Men for the ward High Adventure. We arrived on Thursday, and stayed with the Forster's while we were up here. Austin really likes staying at Emma's Grandmas house, so do I, they are so sweet!

Austin and I won't see Cory until Friday, so our job on Thursday was to look for an appartment for Lindsie (who comes home on Aug 11th!) It was a beautiful day outside, Austin loved running around, and climbed every tree he could.

Here we are at the south end of campus.

Yeah...we found a cherry tree, with cherries on it!

The cherries aren't quite ripe yet, but good enough for me. Austin didn't think they were that great.

On Friday, Austin and I meet up with Cory and the rest of the young men, at the Aitkens house (Trevor's parents in Orem). We were all headed to the Oquirrah Mountain open house. Austin and I drove with Annie and the girls since I had no ideas where to go. The temple is up on a hill, and it was really beautiful inside and out! After our tour, we all went outside to take pictures of the boys and those families that were together at the temple.

The Aitken Family had scheduled their family vacation around High Adventure.

And so did the Pyper family, since more than half of them were in Utah for school or church activities.

This is the first Temple Austin has been through. I don't think that Austin got anything really 'spiritual' out of it, but he was excited to be able to tell all his primary friends that he got to go inside a temple and see everything!

The Oquirrh Mountain Temple. After the open house we went to Cafe Rio to eat, with everyone!

For his 1st semester at BYU, Cory is stayed at Heritage Halls. He didn't know any of his room mates, but he's right on campus and has a meal plan in the cafateria, he should be just fine.

On Saturday, the young men were on campus for a tour (that never happened) so they all decided to follow Cory to his dorm room. Afterwards we went to the BYU bookstore to look around and then we all ate in the food court for lunch.

Name tags for all the guys sharing the apartment were posted on the doors. Cory's room mates this summer semester are Evan Darrington, Eric Carlson, and Matt Page. The dorm has three bedsroom, Evan and Cory each had a single room (no room mate) and Matt & Eric shared a room.

All the young men helped Cory find the right room.

Wow, this is it?

Dorm room's are always so depressing!

Lots of closet space!

Austin wanted one last picture with his big brother. It was really good for Austin to see where Cory is going to be staying for the next couple of months.

Cory is all settled in!

So,Smith building #16, top window will be Cory's new home for a few months. Austin and I got ourselves some dinner, and headed back to the Forster's for the evening.
On the drive back to the airport on Sunday, and I saw the highway sign 'Farmington 22miles'....that's where Sister Ashlie Martin is! It did cross my mind, for a second, to drive through Farmington and then head to the airport. But, I stayed on the path and went straight to the airport!
Bye Cory...have fun at college...don't forget to do your homework!
